RPM PackagingThe RedHat Package Manager (RPM) was developed as a POSIX compliant package manager. It has been ported to different operating systems so I have chosen it to package Open Source Software (OSS) for non-linux platforms. I have RPM's created for Solaris 8. In order to install these packages, you will need to install the Solaris 8 rpm package. Instructions for installing the package are shown in Solaris 8 RPM. The TinySofa distribution is interesting because it is based on the Fedora distribution, without any of the desktop packages, like Gnome or KDE. As good as the Linux desktop is getting, it isn't necessary for a server, especially one with older hardware. | |
